the Club, individuals, and teams. The collection of photos and lists

OUR TROPHIES
THE
SPIRIT OF WINDYCREST AWARD
This select award
is not necessarily bestowed on an annual basis, but is only given in
very special cases.
Members who have devoted endless time and energy to make not only
Windycrest, but the
entire sport and pastime of sailing the best it can be have earned
this award.
1997 - DARLINE HOBOCK
Mrs. Hobock was a charter member of the Club, and served in nearly
every capacity possible while building
and leading the Club. Darline was recognized as a top racer in
Thistles and keelboats, winning numerous
regattas and series. Highly organized, she spent countless time on
bettering sailing for everyone. She directed
the Portsmouth Yardstick Handicap Numbers for US Sailing and served on
various committees, nationally and
regionally, for many years. Darline died in January 2010, but her
Windycrest Spirit in those that knew her
will live on for many years to come.
1998 - JOE BECKER
There can be no better champion of our Windycrest Spirit than Joe
Becker. He has always been there
for the Club, from day one. Through his business, Tulsa Sailcraft, he
was able to promote sailing throughout
northeast Oklahoma. Joe has touched the lives of nearly every sailor
in area, letting his Windycrest Spirit
come through time and time again. Joe loves to be on the water, and is
a two time
national champion in the Catalina 22 class.
2015/2016 - Steve Snider
As
a member of Windycrest since 1983 no one exemplifies the Spirit of
Windycrest better than Steve.
As
a strong advocate of sailing he served as
a Windycrest Commodore in 2006, served on the Board of
Directors at the national level for the Catalina 22 class, achieved
Catalina 22 National Champion status in 1989
and was active in the Sunfish class on a national level. He is also responsible for bringing many regional and national
regattas to Windycrest, serving as host, PRO and participant.
He has always been a strong supporter as well as
instructor of the Windycrest Junior Program and raised the bar of
excellence for any and all Windycrest activities.
